Along with Im sure a million or more people, 2020 started out filled with ambitious hopes & goals...then reality hits. Which among many things, has created opportunity for me to grow. I either had to give up or get with it. I scrambled and fumbled big time! figuring out how to create revenue when my main source of income is covering large events... my passion for capturing unique and powerful images of horses was shaping up to take front row in my life. I usually fill enough images for my annual calendar, but this year I had opportunity to take this up a level. I spent more time hiking out in the hills, searching for the local feral horses, herds of bucking stock, and spending more time with our own herd of horses out on pasture. How can I be paid to take pictures of what I love? a question that often rolls around in my brain...this does not feel like work. Its only my time and creative eye.. well.. life lesson here... I have to value my skills, value my ability to see what others can not, ability to create emotional images, ability to take a simple old camera set and make images that are pure emotion...and trust in my self, that these are truly good. To be challenged, to taste the win, to be humbled, to not look at others as competition but rather as a push to free my own creative drive and stop holding back... This...holding back..is big for me. Its a tricky concept, a feeling, a way of being..its tricky to let that go. To look at one self in a more loving lens and freaking go for it! what do you have to lose... Long story short, this year I started offering Prints and seriously could not keep them long enough to actually post for sale! they were flying out the door. and the calendars... my BEST year yet! sold out 3 times - with my largest orders done to date. talk about validation that this is the direction to be taking my images. It feels so Crazy GOOD to be rewarded for a decision that I doubted. *eyes* rolling...talk about trusting the process Thankyou to all my amazing, supportive friends here on social media- you've been the driving force behind my photography journey. I literally can not thank the friends & families who did book their sessions there..they were epic, amazing & memorable. you all make my year. I wish you all a Happy New Year - and may 2021 be everything your hoping it to be. Do Not hold Back. Go for it. see you next year. #cowgirlmagazine #westernhorsemen #portraits #nikoncanada #nikon #equinephotography #horses #kamloopsbc #explorebritishcolumbia #cowgirlstyle #familyphotography #sessions #sunsets #wilde #westernlifestyle #westernlife #westernromance #feralhorse #westernhorse #wild #wildhorse #cowboy #cowgirls

This blustery session was pure enchantment, especially when I pull up to see horse after horse after horse tied up and waiting patiently. I just knew it was going to be a good one. I have no fear on the location...I can make it Happen even in ones own back yard.. I really should do more "what You see, verses what I see" pull backs..you'd be amazed that images can be created in locations that are lacking green vegetation of open spaces.. At her ranch, we headed down the hill towards the creek, where I utilized a back drop of winter trees to help create this mood. Being a horsewomen, you just meet some horses and Know how incredible they are...like these aged souls...their expressive eyes and quirky attitudes drew me in and had me laughing I had so much fun spending the afternoon with this lovely lady & all her horses. There is nothing more special to photograph then a girl & her horse. #horsephotographer #equinephotography #westernlifestyle #nikoncanada #kamloopsphotographer #horses #sorrelhorse #barrelracer #firstnations #culture #photography #portrait #outdoorsphotographer
